I'd like to change the appearance of the notehead of a normal quarter note to a breve without changing its duration. I cannot seem to figure out how to do this in Musescore 2. In the previous iteration of Musescore I simply went into note properties and changed the note head. That option does not seem to be (immediately)

I do notice that in MuseScore 2 (which is a free open source program), there is a plugin called Add Named Noteheads that has a lot of options, including . In German scores, these symbols have German names, so someone went to a fair bit of manual labor to names these all in all the languages (or at least in German).
When you say rhythm notation, do you mean the thing the use of slash- and diamond note heads to indicate accompaniment rhythms? You should know there is a plugin that creates these automatically; no need for you to change noteheads manually. See this: musescore.org/en/project/slash. FWIW, I don't use
2 Feb 2013 After an hour or so of composing and trying different things, I found my solution: Right click any note head and click Select > All Similar Elements. Right click any note and select Note Properties Set velocity type to auto. Click Ok
